Dakota Wesleyan University logo

Dakota Wesleyan University was built upon the Methodist Church’s convictions and beliefs back in 1885 in Mitchell, South Dakota. The caring faculty, staff, and quality academics strengthen students’ creativity, adaptability, leadership, faith, and service while preparing them for employment. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, DWU offers 40 majors and minors, including an Online MBA.

Business School

The Department of Business will soon be housed in the new School of Business, Innovation, and Leadership building. All business programs in the department have received specialized accreditation through IACBE. Students receive an excellent education that emphasizes innovation, leadership, and accountable management while providing incredible real-world, hands-on experiences like internships, highly qualified faculty, and career support.

Programs

Those seeking a Business Administration major can concentrate their studies in Finance, Marketing, Construction Management, Agriculture, Management, Sport Management, or Nonprofit Administration. Students can also individualize their Business Administration major to align with their professional goals. A unique degree offered in collaboration with another college is the Bachelor’s in Entrepreneurial Leadership with concentration options in Residential Construction or Drafting/Commercial Construction.

For graduate students, there is an MBA. Students can pursue the full MBA with emphasis in Strategic Leadership, Athletic & Activities Administration, or Practical Church Leadership, or just complete six courses to earn a Graduate Certificate in one of these three areas. A nondegree-seeking student can register for one or more MBA courses to gain some professional development without completing the entire degree.

Accolades

U.S. News & World Report picked DWU in its Best Online MBA Program ranking.

Online MBA Requirements

A 100% online MBA that is cost-effective and offers relevant and practical knowledge and skills is highly beneficial. DWU offers this degree, and students can work on their time and complete it in one to two years. It is highly interactive and engaging and is delivered in a combination of live and recorded video sessions. Each course is seven weeks long for a total of 12 courses and 36 total credit hours.

Courses

The first six courses include Adaptive Leadership & Change Management, Data-Driven Decision Making, Conflict Management, High-Performance Teams, Practical Economics, and Coaching & Mentoring in the Workplace. The rest of the courses are Financial Analysis, Contemporary Marketing, Legal Environment, Managerial Accounting, Project Management, and Strategic Business Analysis & Management.

Application Requirements

An applicant must have an accredited bachelor’s degree and receive a 2.75 GPA to apply. If you did not obtain a business degree, you must complete preparatory courses through Peregrine Academic Services, a self-paced program. If you have a 3.0 GPA and are a current DWU student or DWU graduate, you can automatically enroll with just an application.

Once that is determined or completed, you need to submit the free application. The school will contact you with further submission instructions when that is complete. The rest of the process will involve submitting official transcripts, a current resume, and answering four questions about your motivation, what you want to learn, your strategy for managing responsibilities, and your desired timeline.
