Business School

Business students find a “unique opportunity for business discovery” at the AACSB-accredited College of Business. The programs, activities, student organizations, and experiential learning opportunities are designed to help drive educational, social, economic, and community development throughout New Mexico. Students have a wide variety of programs spread across five departments, including bachelor’s, online bachelor’s, master’s, and online MBA degrees, graduate certificates, and many minors.

Programs

There is a Bachelor of Accountancy, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. The BBA offers majors in Information Systems, Economics, International Business, Finance with focus areas in Financial Analyst, Entrepreneurial Finance, Banking & Financial Planning, and Risk Management & Insurance, Marketing with a focus area in PGA Golf Management, General Business with a focus in Entrepreneurship, and Management with focus areas in Human Resource Management, Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship, and Project & Supply Chain Management. Undergraduates have the option to complete a fully online BBA in Information Systems, General Business, or Marketing.

Graduate students study for a Master’s in Economics, Accountancy, Business Administration, or Applied Statistics. The on-campus MBA offers evening courses with the option to complete some courses online. MBA concentrations include Agribusiness, Information Systems, Finance, Public Utility Regulation, or Health Services Management. There is a Management Ph.D., Marketing Ph.D., and a Doctor of Economic Development for doctoral students.

Online MBA Requirements

The online MBA offers a rigorous curriculum that requires 12 courses that equal 36-credit hours. Every student begins with a cohort of students that will stay together throughout the two-year program. It is considered a hybrid format with online instruction and face-to-face interaction via Zoom. As the on-campus MBA meets in the evenings, the online MBA will experience synchronous lectures some evenings to join and interact with professors and students in the hybrid format.

Courses

The required courses include eleven core courses and one elective. Core courses are Business Information Systems, Management Economics, Operations Management, Quantitative Analysis for Business Decisions, Professional Paper & Presentation, Managerial Accounting, Legal Environment of Business, Financial Management, Organizational Behavior & Management Processes, Marketing Management, and Strategic Management.

Application Requirements

Every student must have an undergraduate degree and background knowledge in the prerequisite courses in Accounting, Statistics, Calculus, Finance, and Macroeconomics. Applicants must request a pre-application assessment and submit their application and official transcripts.
