“Going beyond the expected” is what Stony Brook University strives to accomplish. Being the flagship of the SUNY (State University of New York) system, this highly-ranked university is located just 60 miles east of “The Big Apple.” Its world-class education, research, and discovery have brought international recognition. Since 1957, it has grown to offer over 200 undergraduate, over 100 master’s, including an online MBA, and over 50 doctoral degrees throughout 12 colleges and schools to more than 26,700 students and is accredited by the MSCHE.
Business School
The AACSB-accredited College of Business prepares students to drive enterprise through integrity, knowledge, and originality and goes “Far Beyond Business as Usual.” Two thousand students experience many “beyond the classroom” educational opportunities with the excellent faculty and curriculum. These include industry projects, internships, guest speakers, workshops, study abroad, student/community engagement events, student clubs, networking opportunities, and research projects throughout eight labs and centers.
Programs
The Bachelor’s in Business Management degree offers specializations in Finance, Accounting, Operations Management, and Marketing. Undergraduates also have an Accounting Minor, a Business Honors Program, and the MBA Fast Track Program.
Graduate students can choose full-time or part-time formats for each degree. The general MBA and the MBAs with concentrations in Operations Analytics or Innovation can be completed entirely online. Other graduate degree programs have a mix of online options and in-person classes. These degrees include an MBA in Marketing, Finance, Accounting, or Health Care Management and a Master’s degree in Technology Management, Accounting, or Finance. There is also an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Finance.

Online MBA Requirements
This 100% online MBA can be done in 12-18 months or two to three years with full-time and part-time options. Those with no background in business pursue the 48-credit track, while business degree holders take 36 credits. There is no work experience requirement, and students choose from any of the graduate business electives in the General MBA or can pursue a concentration in Innovation or Operations Analytics.
Courses
Core courses include Data Analysis & Decision Making, Ethics in Management, Technological Innovations, Business Planning & Strategic Management, Business Analytics, Business Project and Leadership, Team Effectiveness & Communications. Additional required core courses in the 48-credit track include Marketing, Finance, Organizational Behavior, Financial Accounting, and Operations Management. The 36-credit track allows five electives, while the 48-credit path allows four electives or one area of concentration.
Application Requirements
The CoB takes a holistic approach to the admissions process. You need to highlight your academic achievement, critical and analytical skills, desire to grow, and potential to thrive in a challenging environment. Applicants must have proof of a “C” or better in calculus and a minimum 3.0 GPA. There is no work experience requirement, and GMAT/GRE scores are optional but encouraged. Required submissions include an online application, a $100 application fee, official transcripts, a personal statement, a resume, and three letters of recommendation.
