Beginning in 1947 and located on its own island along the Gulf Coast, TAMUCC is also called the Island University. It provides a community environment, renowned faculty, hands-on activities, and several research institutes. Throughout seven colleges, from business, nursing, and science & engineering to liberal arts and education & human development, students study over 85 highly-rated bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. There are also some online degree offerings like an online MBA.

Business School

Along with excellent academic programs, the AACSB-accredited College of Business provides rewarding international experiences, faculty scholarship, valuable engagement opportunities, community service, and the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in various careers. Students receive high-quality instruction, relevant curriculum, expert academic advising, and valuable experiential learning opportunities, like internships. They also participate in research and impact the region’s economic development through the CoB’s Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center, Business Services Center, and South Texas Economic Development Center.

Programs

Undergraduate students earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. The BBA can be completed at the Main Campus, online, or the TAMU System RELLIS Campus in Bryan, Texas. BBA majors include Business Economics, Accounting, General Business, Finance, Management Information Systems, Management, and Marketing.

There is an Engineering 5-Year MBA for undergraduate students enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, where they can receive their Bachelor’s and Master’s in five years. Other graduate studies consist of an MBA, an online MBA, and an online Master’s in Accounting.

Online MBA Requirements

The 100% online MBA at TAMUCC is a respected business degree offering students in-demand leadership skills and a competitive edge in the business world. A general focus option requires 30 credit hours, or students choose a concentration to specialize their skillset with six additional credit hours. Concentrations include Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, International Business, and Healthcare Administration. This degree can be completed in one to two years.

Courses

Those who do not hold an undergraduate business degree might be required to complete one or more prerequisite courses, including Foundations in Economics, Statistical & Decision Analysis, Foundations in Accounting, and Financial Management Concepts. Required core courses are Managerial Economics, Organizational Behavior & Theory, Marketing Management, Accounting Topics, Managerial Finance, Software-Based Business Solutions, Operations Management, and the Administrative Strategy & Policy Capstone course.

Each concentration has required electives, but the general MBA students choose two out of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Social Media Marketing.

Application Requirements

At least a 2.5 GPA from an accredited bachelor’s degree is required for admission. GMAT/GRE scores are required, but waivers are available for those with a 3.00 GPA or a Master’s degree, with an “A” or “B” in a higher-level math. Along with an online application and a $50 fee, applicants must submit test scores, official transcripts, a current resume, and a personal essay.
