The University of Alabama, “where legends are made,” is located in Tuscaloosa and accredited by the SACSCOC. Since its beginning in 1831, U.A. has grown to offer over 100 majors and undergraduate programs and over 120 graduate programs throughout 13 colleges and schools. U.A. Online has numerous online degree programs, like the online MBA.

Business School

The AACSB-accredited Manderson Graduate School is part of the Culverhouse College of Business. It focuses solely on graduate degree programs and resources and can trace its roots to 1944. Five academic departments offer Specialized Master’s, MBA, EMBA, and Ph.D. programs to over 7,000 students. These nationally-ranked programs provide a “transformative, empowering experience” and allow for the flexibility of online options. Students get to participate in activities at Manderson’s eight research and outreach centers.

Programs

Manderson offers undergraduate students the STEM Path and the CREATE Path to the MBA, allowing them to complete just one extra year to earn their MBA. Full-time MBA focus areas include Business Analytics, Finance, Cybersecurity, Financial Risk, Management & Marketing Strategy, Real Estate, Management Information Systems, and Supply Chain Operations Management. There is also a blended Executive MBA.

Other degrees include Master’s in Applied Statistics, Economics, Management, Marketing, Tax Accounting, Accountancy, Business Analytics, Finance, Management Information Systems, and Operations Management. Online offerings are the Executive MBA (blended) and Online Master’s degrees in Marketing, Management, and Operations Management. Doctoral students pursue a Ph.D. in Accounting, Economics, Management, Operations Management, Applied Statistics, Finance, or Marketing.

Online MBA Requirements

The Executive MBA is a mix of interactive online and in-person classes at the Tuscaloosa and Huntsville locations to provide the ultimate flexibility and better accommodate the work-life balance of professionals and executives. On-campus courses meet one weekend a month. The EMBA began in 1985 and now requires 16 courses, four semesters, and four classes/semester to equal 48 credit hours. A required in-person orientation includes team-building and meeting with professors and classmates. Students will work in study teams throughout the program.

Courses

The first two terms include Statistics for Business Applications, Management Information Systems, Basic Accounting Managerial Finance, Marketing Management & Decision Making, Business Spreadsheet Analytics, Effective Negotiations, Accounting Management Decisions, and Operations Management. The last two terms offer courses in Managerial Economics, Global Business, Financial Management, Leadership & Ethics, Business Policy, Management Communication, Supply Chain Modeling & Analysis, and Special Topics.

Application Requirements

Executive MBA applicants must have work experience: five or more years, current employer support, and an accredited undergraduate degree with a 3.0 GPA. Submissions include a resume, personal interview, admissions questionnaire, and two letters of recommendation. If you do not qualify for GMAT/GRE exemption, submit those scores.
