Business School

At the AACSB-accredited College of Business & Public Policy, over 1,250 students choose from ten undergraduate, four graduate, and six certificate programs. It began in 1973 and offers engaging and relevant coursework, expert faculty insights, seven student clubs, and real-world experiences. This high-quality global business education strives for constant improvement and values integrity, innovation, and impact. It focuses on developing essential skills in today’s business world: leadership, communication, resourcefulness, and critical thinking.

Programs

Undergraduate programs include an Associate’s in Business Computer Information Systems, Accounting, or General Business, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with majors in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Marketing, and Global Logistics/Supply Chain Management. The Management BBA offers a concentration in Property Management & Real Estate. Also, undergraduates can pursue an Occupational Endorsement Certificate in Bookkeeping, Business Analytics, Alaska Native Business Management, Business Leadership, or Entrepreneurship.

Graduate students pursue an MBA in General Management, a Master of Public Administration, a Master of Public Policy, or an online Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management. The MBA offers several areas of emphasis, and the MPA has options of emphasis in Public Management, Policy Analysis, Criminal Justice, and Health Administration. Graduate Certificates in Business Analytics & A.I. and Executive Leadership are also available.

Online MBA Requirements

The online MBA at UAA is a hybrid program, offering a mix of online and in-person course sessions, with the on-campus classes held on weekday evenings. Those without sufficient knowledge will be required to complete nine credits of foundation courses. The General MBA requires 30 credits. Students can customize their electives or add six more credits to complete an area of emphasis in Health Administration, Business Intelligence & Business Analytics, Public Sector & Non-Profit Management, Leadership, or Global Supply Chain Management.

Courses

Foundational courses include Fundamentals of Finance, Accounting Foundations for Executives, and Introduction to Economics for Managers. Core courses are Business Intelligence & Analytics, Current Marketing Issues Seminar, Management Simulation, Seminar in Executive Uses of Accounting, Leadership & Organizational Behavior, Financial Decision Making, and Economics & Public Policy. Students choose one Capstone course from Management Project, Strategic Management Seminar, and MBA Individual Research.

Application Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum 3.25 GPA or 525 GMAT score to be accepted. There are GMAT waivers available for qualified applicants. Along with an application, you must submit a statement of purpose, a resume, and document evidence of leadership and creativity or a record of professional business accomplishments.
