Business School

Known as Baltimore’s Business School, the AACSB-accredited Merrick School of Business is a “leader in business and management education.” Located in the heart of Baltimore’s thriving business sector, Merrick offers its 1,300 business students a high-tech, engaging, relevant, and innovative education. As a “pioneer of online accredited business education,” it not only offers flexible day, evening, and weekend courses, but several online options.

Programs

The BS in Business Administration degree has specialization choices in Accounting, Pre-Law Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, General Business, Management, Real Estate & Economic Development, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Risk Management & Insurance. Undergraduates can also participate in the Accounting Honors Program and accelerated bachelor’s to master’s options.

Graduate students pursue an MBA on-campus, fully online, or both. The on-campus MBA has specialization options in Data Analytics, Finance, Digital Business, Leadership & Management Development, Marketing, Global Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and Public-Sector Management. Master’s degrees exist in Cybersecurity Management, Business-Finance, Nonprofit Management & Social Entrepreneurship, and Taxation. The Master’s in Accounting & Business Advisory Services is offered on-campus and entirely online.

Online MBA Requirements

The fully online MBA option requires 36 credits for completion, including a Capstone, with an additional 0-12 credits of foundation courses, if needed. Required core courses fill fifteen credits, and nine credits are considered a flexible core to allow students to choose and customize their degree path. Students can select a specialization in Managing Financial Performance, Data Analytics, Marketing, or Leadership & Management Development.

Courses

Required core courses include Business & Public Policy in a Global Economy, Financial Management, Leading with Integrity, Business Analytics, Performance Management & Accounting, Creativity & the Entrepreneurial Mindset, IT for Business Transformation, and Marketing Strategy.

The flexible core courses are either more corporate or entrepreneurial. There is Corporate Finance, Operations & Supply Chain Management, Customers & Markets, Entrepreneurial Finance, Managing in a Dynamic Environment, Innovation and Project Management, Entrepreneurial Marketing, and Collaboration, Negotiation & Conflict Management.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to make sure they apply early to receive the admission decision quickly. The online MBA requires a bachelor’s degree and a GPA ranging from 2.9 to 4.0 for admission. There is no work experience requirement.

You must complete an online application and a $50 application fee unless you qualify for a fee waiver. Other submission requirements include official transcripts, a resume, a personal statement, and one letter of recommendation.
