Years ago, the College of Commerce stemmed from the Department of Economics. In its humble beginnings, the college occupied one small room in White Hall. The grand opening for Gatton College’s $65 million expansion and renovation was funded entirely through private gifts from friends and alumni. The business school’s new state-of-the-art facility features almost fifty individual group study rooms, modern classrooms, and many areas designed for business collaboration.
Online MBA Requirements
Distance learners enrolled in the program at Kentucky can access all the benefits of the Professional MBA program in a 100% online format. The convenient and flexible option allows graduate students to take coursework from any location, in-person, or a mixture of both. The business school’s real-time online option will enable candidates to engage with their instructors and peers, encouraging the meaningful formation of relationships throughout their experience in the distance program.
With Gatton College of Business and Economics’ traditional programs, the Real-Time online Master of Business Administration degree can be completed in twenty-four to thirty-six months. All MBA courses are presented in the classroom and broadcast live on specific weeknights from 6-8:30 p.m. EST.
Admission Requirements
Once MBA candidates review the business school’s admission requirements, they should set up an individual appointment with a Gatton admissions representative to answer any questions about this program and tell the business school how they can support them as UK MBA candidates. Gatton accepts candidates for the fall and spring semesters each year.
A completed admissions packet includes a filled-out Graduate School Application with the application fee, a competitive GMAT or GRE score (The Institution Code for the University of Kentucky Graduate School is 1837), a current resume or CV, and an undergraduate transcript revealing a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75. Other admissions requirements include a letter of recommendation and a personal statement. The 500-word personal statement deals with career goals and how MBA students anticipate growth and change as a person, professional, and leader during the program.
