Today’s business leaders are discovering that a Michigan Ross Online MBA can open the door to the world’s most coveted employers. Enrolled students benefit from personalized career preparation, access to the University of Michigan alumni network, and on-campus recruiting with top-tier companies. This online program has been designed for maximum flexibility with live, interactive classes, self-guided modules, and hands-on, in-person short-term residencies.

The business school’s individualized approach to recruiting and career development means that no matter what graduate students’ goals, the rigorous, action-based curriculum — delivered by esteemed faculty in dynamic formats — gives them the business foundation they need to succeed.

Business School

Michigan Ross School of Business altered the landscape of business education a quarter of a century ago with its trademarked Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP) program. Its commitment to innovation continues today as no other school equals its students’ opportunities to start, lead, advise, and invest in real-world business organizations. Business school leaders refer to this as Ross Experiences in Action-Based Learning, or “REAL.”

Within this philosophy of business education, students develop a new business stemming from an original idea with the intent to achieve economic viability. Student teams work with a real-world organization on a pressing matter of strategic importance while providing substantive analysis and qualified recommendations. Distance learners then manage eight focused investment funds, adding up to over $10 million in assets in all aspects of operations. Students also assume functional responsibility for operating an ongoing business concern while coordinating with established corporate partners.

Online MBA Requirements

This online MBA degree features live online sessions with instructors and students, including case studies, group work, presentations, and role-playing. A typical 2.25-credit course within the program features four live events. Most course sessions are held during the evening after business hours. The self-guided study format means graduate students enjoy short modules, readings, and exercises that explain key concepts. Graduate students can work at their own pace on this material and are responsible for completing specifically designated modules in a predetermined timeframe for the live learning event.

Stress on in-person learning is evident in three residencies in the U.S. or China that provide opportunities for an excellent education. Domestic graduate students also qualify to attend elective courses on campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The program’s action-based learning models mean distance learners can apply their coursework to the real world in real-time. MBA students will also gain much from the on-campus residencies that test their ability to manage actual and simulated business issues. During the MAP course, students solve a business problem for a real organization.

Admission Requirements

All applications for this online MBA are considered on a rolling basis. Early application is encouraged. Admissions decisions are made six to eight weeks after applications are submitted. Candidates for this program should order their undergraduate and graduate transcripts, review the business school’s test requirements, update their resumes, write essays, choose their recommender, prepare for interviews, and pay the application fee.
