Michael F. Price College of Business’s online MBA at the University of Oklahoma is designed to provide maximum flexibility for graduate students to complete their MBA from anywhere. The OU Online MBA features synchronous classes, allowing distance learners to interact in real-time with their professors and classmates. Like the in-person Professional MBA, this online MBA is for rising and experienced professionals from various industries and backgrounds.
Business School
Leaders at the Michael F. Price College of Business ensure the enduring global competitiveness of Oklahoma and the United States. The business school fulfills its purpose in three ways:
- by addressing the most significant business issues of our time,
- by generating valuable insights that make organizations and companies more efficient, effective, and enduring, and
- by preparing business students as competent leaders the state and nation need.
Online MBA Requirements
Oklahoma’s thirty-six credit hour online MBA program is designed in a modular structure, with each term being broken into two eight-week modules. This self-paced program allows distance learners to take a course load that fits their personal schedules. They can complete the MBA program in as little as twenty-four months or take as long as five years to satisfy all program requirements. The same top-tier instructors teach courses as the business school’s Full-time MBA. All classes are delivered synchronously online during the week and in the evenings. Most online MBA students choose to take two classes per week, allowing them to graduate in twenty-four months.
Core courses cover essential managerial competencies and fundamental business knowledge, making up two-thirds of the curriculum or twenty-four credit hours. Twelve hours of electives complete the cohort-based business training. Courses within the program include
- Financial Accounting,
- Financial Management,
- Investments,
- Managerial Economics,
- Management Information Systems, and
- Real Estate Finance.
Application Requirements
Candidates interested in the online MBA will initiate a two-step process which starts with submitting their biographical data and transcripts in the OU Online portal. They will upload personal statements, current resumes, entrance exam (GMAT or GRE) scores, or entrance exam waivers. Admission staff values all backgrounds and perspectives in the classroom. They encourage applicants from various academic and professional experiences to apply.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. It is to the MBA candidates’ advantage to apply as early as they are ready. The admissions committee can’t predict the quality of future applications and typically admits well-qualified applicants early in the process. Early application ensures that applicants receive a decision earlier. It is essential not to rush an application though. Online MBA candidates are encouraged to take the time needed to submit a thoughtful, well-prepared application.
