Business School

Leaders at Chambers College are doing business differently and forging new trails for their MBA students, the state, and the world. The business school is disrupting the norm and taking more substantial leaps to discover new horizons by going where others have not to make a difference in business. The WVU College of Commerce was established by order of West Virginia’s higher education board in 1951 and was initially called the College of Business and Economics from 1971 until 2018. It was renamed the John Chambers College of Business and Economics.

Chambers offers ten undergraduate, ten graduate, and two doctoral degrees. With a bachelor’s enrollment of nearly 1,500, the business school has over 20,000 alumni worldwide. The AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, accredits all the business programs at the John Chambers College of Business & Economics.

Online MBA Requirements

The online MBA‘s thirty-seven credit hours are completed over two years with a prescriptive study plan. Most students take eight credit hours each fall and spring semester, with four to seven credit hours, are taken during summer semesters. Most fall and spring term courses are only a half-semester in length. Because of this, no more than two courses are completed at a time.

Chambers College has recently designed an online Healthcare MBA as a thirty-nine-credit hour program that can be completed in less than two years. The flexible format allows graduate students to pursue their degrees while actively growing their careers. The program spans 33 credit hours of core courses that include graduate-level coursework within all functional business areas, delivered with a healthcare concentration. Enrolled students take deep dives into case studies, assignments, and real-world applications within the healthcare business. The program is taught by expert instructors and executive professionals who understand the intersection of business and healthcare. The six remaining credit hours are an elective and an application course.
